Whos behind Twist of Fate How it Works The Mystery of the Cards History of Cartomancy
History of Cartomancy

It would be something else if in today's society we were subjected to watching a pile of sheep's entrails being poked about with a pointed stick, and expected to believe all that was foretold would come true. Although there are lots of acceptable alternative ways that do give accurate forecasts, available to us, the most popular methods are with cards. Playing cards as we know them today as English packs are of French design, but original cards of other countries were hand painted with different designs, although English cards are accepted now as the international standard world wide.

Playing card games has always been around, because of their numerical design and because they provided the factor of chance. By the same token they have lent themselves as tools for fortune telling, or was it the other way round, which ever the case maybe, fortune telling with playing cards is widely believed to be the original way. The true origin of cards is unknown to us today; I believe that the cards as we know them were a collaboration of many countries and their people through the ages.

The first historical reference to the use of playing cards was in the fourteenth century in Sienna Italy, but the true answer could lie in the dust of the ancient original great libraries of Alexandria. Over the years the symbols have changed, but the magic of the cards has not. One thing that cannot be denied is that whenever cards are used for divination purposes a real sense of excitement will accompany the reading of them, thus providing valuable information and true entertainment.
